This is the official site for sharing ideas and tracking events that will celebrate the 75th Anniversary of the The Gay Divorcee. This is the first film to star the best known and best loved dance team in film: Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers. This film launched their phenominal partnership whose artistry we need to preserve for future generations. We invite all fans and scholars to create an event in 2009 to mark this occasion. On May 10, 2009 it will also be Fred Astaire's 110th birthday and the May 2009 events will have additional meaning.

We want to let everyone know about these artists and to see their wonderful films. Join the party and spread the fun
. One way to spread the message is to wear, give or carry commemorative apparel. Please go to the site's Internet Page to find out more.
What can you do?

Use your imagination to think of an exciting, memorable, and enjoyable event that you can bring to the public. You can do it yourself or ask someone else (use all your connections). The event can be anything that you can imagine. It can be:

  • a film festival
  • a display
  • a live performance
  • a special video
  • a radio program
  • a newspaper or magazine article
  • a blog
  • a film watching party
  • etc. etc.

Volunteer and ask your friends to join.
The more people the more events. Wouldn't it be nice to have celebrations all around the world?

To appreciate the dance in a new way, please read this wonderful poem. It
beautifully captures the essence of this dance.

I have a project that I need a few suggestions on. First is there any music that could be used as background that follows the score. I got two disks, one Berlin and a Gershwin from Music minus One and they are not according to score. I have in my mind to work up a musical program using FA and GR music and playing it in the Veterans Homes. Those fellows just love that music. But I need access to background. Was hoping to do it this year.I tried to do it for the 75th but ill health stopped me in my tracks.
